For a flawless execution of your move and to avoid any unpleasant surprises on the day, a professional should conduct a technical visit to your residence.
Environment analysis
To carry out your move under the best conditions and estimate the cost, your mover must consider several factors :
- Truck access
- Floor levels
- Street parking
- The need for a furniture lift (if necessary)
- Estimating the distance between your residence and the truck (carrying distance)
- Taking into account specific elements like the Thursday morning market, annual fairs, trees in the driveway needing trimming, or simply uncooperative neighbors.
Inventory of items to be moved
The sales representative will need to make a precise inventory of the furniture you plan to move. Take some time before your appointment to think about any questions you might have for them. Walk through your residence to decide on the furniture... in short, you may want to sell some items before your departure or perhaps leave the magnificent solid oak wardrobe from your grandmother to the youngest child for their new apartment.
You should still have a clear idea of the furniture to be moved.
Remember, we're estimating a volume with closets filled with all sorts of items ! Don’t hesitate to open them when the assessment is being done, as it allows the sales rep to better appreciate the number of boxes needed. Also, consider your attic, basement, or garden shed, which may also contain furniture to move !
Planning to Declutter ? If you also want to declutter and get rid of certain items, we can handle that for you ; just let us know.
And if you can’t take everything with you but also don’t want to part with bulky items you’re attached to, there’s always the storage solution.
No question is too silly !
As always, if you have any questions, your sales representative will be pleased to answer them, especially if this is your first move. We will make sure to take into account all information or specific requests concerning your move.
